The Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum commissioned a piece of Tokheim Stoneware as a special wedding gift for Crown Prince Haakon Magnus and Mette-Marit Tjessem Holby in 2001.
Gene and Lucy Tokheim prepared a 'Setesdal Bowl', a design based on traditional Norwegian wood carving. The motif of interlaced vines and Gothic type chip carving in a fan shape was popular in the Setesdal district of Norway. Gene and Lucy saw it first on a chest in the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum. This inspired their adaptation to a contemporary stoneware bowl.
This limited edition bowl 10" in its widest diameter, 7.5" height. The exterior is raw clay stained with iron oxide and the interior glaze is gold. The bottom of the pot is dated, signed by Gene and stamped with Lucy's mark.
