We took this bowl from the kiln on a very hot June day just a week before the summer solstice, which is followed by the ancient Scandinavian celebration of Midsommar, on the eve on June 24, St. John the Baptist feast day on the Primstav. I did this design in 1990 after our return from studying Folk Art in Telemark,
The days as long as they will ever be and filled with sunlight. Plants leap from the ground here in Minnesota, with bird song by 4 am and long sweet twilights.
